rewiring your mind

Rewiring your mind can lead to so many positive things, like getting healthier, losing weight, and changing your life.

That was certainly the case for Fit Father Jesse!

Jesse is a 42-year-old father of three who, after years of hard work and raising kids, found himself at his heaviest and thinking there was nothing he could do about it.

He was also regularly waking up with chest pains, and a subsequent doctor’s appointment revealed that he was pre-diabetic with high blood pressure.

He had dabbled with exercise and healthy eating and even looked into the Fit Father Project.

But he never pulled the trigger.

A simple “What are you waiting for?” from his wife was all it took for him to realize what he had to live for — three amazing kids, a beautiful wife that supports him, and a great career.

Then he saw a Father's Day special for FF30X, and he finally pulled the trigger.

And that’s when everything started to come together!

Listen to Jesse's Story on the Fit Father Project Podcast:

Health Deteriorating With Age

Growing up, Jesse was always healthy.

He played football, basketball, and baseball, and he also threw the discus and shot put.

However, life had other plans for him when he and his wife became young parents, and he had to toil for years to provide for his family.

This was when his health began to take a backseat.

As he got the ball rolling and things got better, Jesse and his wife followed up on their education and got their degrees, which opened up better prospects and a better quality of life overall.

But Jesse still felt something was missing in his life, and it was fitness.

He decided to revisit his health and fitness along with his wife.

“So we began to develop some good habits, and for the next three or four years, we were actually pretty healthy. We were doing good habits and practices like prepping our meals.”

But they lacked structure in their workouts and eating habits.

“I was doing a lot of stuff but never had a plan to follow. I would go to the gym and grab a kettlebell or dumbbell. Then go from swings into a pushup into a press. I would do that, but it was the same thing over and over.”

He began contemplating his advancing age and how he needed to be well-prepared for it.

So, he started for answers and came across the Fit Father Project.

Jesse felt an instant connection with the program on a personal level, yet he was hesitant to join.

“I would watch your videos, and there were a lot of compound movements in them. So, I thought I would go for the program when I got into my 40s. And so, I did not pull the trigger.”

Jesse admits he was looking for an easy solution, and when he didn't find it, his weight spun out of control.

“Before joining FFP, my starting weight was between 287 and 290. I was 10 pounds away from 300 pounds, a place I never thought I would be. And little by little, slowly, the weight starts just coming on and stacking up until I can't stop it.”

Jesse did not feel good about his shape and started waking up regularly with serious chest pains.

Checking in with a doctor, he discovered the reports were not what he expected.

“My doctor did blood work on me, and my numbers were horrible. It turns out I was pre-diabetic and had high blood sugar content. I was going to be put on high blood pressure medicine. And there were many other things.”

He did not want to take the medications, so his doctor gave him 30 days to bring down his blood pressure.

Jesse made some effort to control his blood pressure, but nothing was working.

Then he saw a Father's Day special for the Fit Father Project FF30X program, and decided to sign up for it for the sake of his family.

Rewiring Your Mind

After signing up, Jesse spent the entire first week just reading the program’s materials.

He was pleasantly surprised at all the good food options, especially the tips on healthy fast food.

“I'd never seen this anywhere. I had never seen a nutritionist or anybody recommend fast food.”

So, he dove in and followed the workout and nutrition plan sincerely.

“I love doing the HIIT part of the program. And I got to learn so much about nutrition after this program, like the fact that sweet potatoes are full of carbs. I never knew that. I always thought sweet potato was a healthy vegetable.”

Jesse shares that his mission statement was to become the best version of himself and combine the most financially successful and healthiest years of his life.

Talking about the Fit Father Project Brotherhood Facebook Group, he highlighted that it is full of support and inspiration.

“I cannot describe in words what that group means to me. There was such overwhelming support there. It had guys with a feel-good attitude who couldn't let me fail. I felt that I could never do something to disappoint these guys.”

Jesse made some life-changing transformations with the Fit Father Project.

“I lost a whopping 90 pounds. I lost 22 in the first month, 20 in month two, and 18 in month three. So, my goal of losing 60 pounds in six months was met in three months. Plus, my blood pressure came down to 143 over 86, cholesterol from 189 to 145, triglycerides from 216 to 88, LDL cholesterol from 104 to 76, non-HDL cholesterol from 138 to 92, and glucose dropped from 142 to 98.”

The successes didn't end there either!

“My wife told me that my skin tone got better. I am feeling stronger and changing, not just physically but also emotionally. On the inside, I am becoming a new person. There is so much more momentum, and I'm getting more educated and smarter on the nutrition side.”

Jesse gifted his wife a subscription to the Fit Mother Project.

After joining the program, his wife also ended up losing 45 pounds in a matter of a few months.

As part of his non-scale victories, he reveals that his children have also started working out and love doing so.

“As a family, we have a newfound way of life — to become healthy and the best versions of ourselves.”

So what would Jesse say to someone looking to join the Fit Father Project?

“Regardless of our age and regardless of all the years of bad habits and whatever, we can still change internally, which ultimately leads to our external change. So I will say this for those who are looking to join the Fit Father Project. It does look like it’s a narrow road, but once you get on that road, man, the road just opens up, and it becomes probably one of the widest roads you can ever get on.”

3 Key Takeaways From Jesse's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Jesse’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: There's No Shortcut To Health and Fitness

You have to put in the work — there's no magic pill or ‘easy button.'

Fitness demands effort, consistency, and commitment.

Once you start showing up for yourself, you will realize there is no stopping you and no looking back.

Lesson2: You Can't Out-Exercise a Bad Diet

Working out intensely without making changes to your diet is not going to bring you the desired benefits.

The secret to fitness is 20% exercise and 80% nutrition.

Give up the mindset that makes you believe that you'd be in good shape as long as you are burning out the calories.

Lesson 3: Age Is Just a Number

Regardless of our age and years of bad habits, we can change internally, ultimately leading to external change.

Never let age hold you back from achieving your dreams.

There is an exercise for every age, shape, size, and health condition.

It’s never too late to become the best version of yourself!
