energy supplements

As you probably already know, most energy drinks are not so great for you, despite the boost they may give you.

But what about energy supplements?

Believe it or not, there are safe and effective ones you can take.

It all depends on your lifestyle, medical history, dietary habits, and age.

Check in with your doctor before taking any new dietary supplements if you take prescription medications or have a medical condition.

If you struggle with extreme fatigue, ask your doctor to evaluate you for nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, or other potential problems that might be the underlying cause of your tiredness.

Nearly everyone can reap the benefits of taking multivitamins containing essential minerals and vitamins.

Are you seeking top-quality energy supplements because you're tired all the time and need a quick pick-me-up?

The energy supplements below are safe, effective, and great for your overall wellness!

Safe and Effective Energy Supplements

Testosterone Boosting Supplements

Low testosterone is a common issue among men, especially those over 40.

The bad news is that low T can diminish your energy levels and increase your chance of fatigue, a low sex drive, sexual dysfunction, weight gain, low bone density, thinning hair, higher body fat, muscle loss, and depression.

So what's the good news?

Fit Father Project Test Booster RX gives you your energy back, helping you look and feel years younger without taking medications or undergoing medical procedures.

That's why testosterone-boosting supplements are often classified as energy supplements for men over 40.

It aids in weight loss by keeping your metabolism high and increasing satiety.

This, in turn, can enhance your energy levels.

When you mix protein powder with milk or plant milk and fruit, oats, or nut butter, the protein shake you create offers a good mix of fiber, protein, and carbohydrates that keeps energy levels going strong for several hours.

Zinc Supplements

If you don't ingest enough zinc through foods or supplements, you may notice fatigue and other unpleasant symptoms of zinc deficiency.

Studies show that in older adults, zinc supplementation significantly reduces fatigue.

Zinc deficiency is linked with low testosterone levels in men, which is another common cause of fatigue.

Men need at least 11 milligrams of zinc daily, which is the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for zinc.

Make sure your multivitamin supplement contains zinc, and ask your doctor if you need an additional zinc supplement because of a deficiency.

Zinc-rich foods include beef, pork, turkey, seafood, fish, fortified breakfast cereals, dairy foods, nuts, lentils, and other legumes.

Multivitamins with Vitamin D and Iodine

Like zinc deficiencies, low levels of iodine and vitamin D can lead to fatigue.

Low iodine intake can also cause a slowed metabolism.

About 17 percent of the United States population has an iodine deficiency due to low iodine consumption.

Your body needs enough iodine regularly for proper thyroid hormone function, which regulates your metabolism and gives you energy.

Not all multivitamins contain iodine, though most do provide vitamin D.

Choose supplements that contain iodine, vitamin D, and other essential vitamins and minerals as part of a multivitamin.

The RDA for men is 150 micrograms of iodine per day and 15-20 micrograms (depending on age) of vitamin D daily.

Iodized salt, fish, seafood, seaweed, enriched bread and pasta, eggs, milk, yogurt, and cheese are all excellent sources of iodine.

Foods rich in vitamin D include fish, mushrooms, dairy foods, vitamin D-fortified breakfast cereals, and egg yolks.

Powdered Vegetables

You'd be surprised at how effective powdered vegetables are as energy supplements.

Examples of veggies powders to try are powdered broccoli, greens, and beets that are loaded with energy-enhancing minerals and vitamins.

A lot of people don't achieve the suggested amounts of vegetable servings, which are 3-3 1/2 cups of veggies daily when consuming a 2,500-calorie meal plan.

Beet powder helps increase nitric oxide levels within your body, improving oxygen delivery into cells and blood flow.

Research shows that beetroot supplements improve athletic performance.

To add veggie powder to your supplement regimen, mix it into protein shakes or create a nutrition smoothie with veggies and fruits to maximize energy levels and your nutritional intake.

B Vitamins

B vitamins are known energy enhancers since they maximize your body's ability to create energy from the foods you consume.

The essential B vitamins — thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, biotin, vitamin B12, and folic acid — are often found in multivitamin supplements.

Make sure these vitamins are present in your daily men's multivitamin.

Ingesting insufficient B vitamins, especially vitamin B12 or vitamin B6, can cause anemia and decreased energy levels.

Eat a variety of foods rich in B vitamins.

Examples include fish, poultry, meats, eggs, dairy foods, beans, peas, leafy greens, and breakfast cereals or bread fortified with B vitamins.

Green Tea Extract

Green tea is a natural source of caffeine and catechin polyphenols, which studies show increase energy expenditure, as well as your body's fat-burning ability.

Other benefits associated with green tea extract supplements are healthy weight management, more effortless weight loss, and improvements in heart health.

Drink green tea or consider green tea energy supplements, as long as your doctor gives you the okay, to give you a quick pick-me-up.

Creatine Supplements

The amino acid creatine is a known energy supplement for short-burst, high-intensity workouts.

Creatine is found in meats, pork, poultry, fish, and dietary supplements.

Energy-enhancing creatine supplements can improve your performance in jumping, sprinting, weightlifting, and other activities that involve short bursts of exercise.

Studies found that energy supplements containing creatine increase energy, strength, lean mass, power, and overall athletic performance.

They also contribute to faster recovery after training, as well as injury prevention.

Additional Energy-Boosting Amino Acids

In addition to creatine, other amino acid energy supplements help improve athletic performance and the way you feel.

Certain amino acids enhance energy production when consumed in the right amounts.

They also help your body to build and repair proteins. The following amino acids are often effective as energy supplements:

Citrulline

Citrulline is present in watermelon, and it helps boost the nitrous oxide (NO) levels in your body.

NO increases oxygen in cells, widens blood vessels, improves circulation, and enhances energy — especially when you're working out.

Studies found that L-citrulline supplements improve athletic performance and minimize muscle fatigue after physical training.

Taking this supplement can help you exercise at higher intensities for more extended time periods.

L-Theanine

L-theanine is also an amino acid energy supplement.

It's found in tea and some mushrooms.

Combining L-theanine with caffeine can maximize mental alertness, boost energy, and diminish fatigue without the adverse effects associated with consuming large amounts of caffeine.

Tyrosine

The amino acid tyrosine also increases alertness, energy, mental clarity, and cognition.

It's present in chicken, eggs, dairy foods, and other protein-rich foods, as well as some energy supplements.

BCAAs

The branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) include leucine, isoleucine, and valine.

They're often found in energy supplements because these amino acids help improve athletic performance.

In fact, research shows that BCAAs maximize endurance exercise performance and boost time to exhaustion, delaying the onset of fatigue during exercise.
